The greatest pioneer of electricity, Nicola Tesla has observed an interesting, non-conventional waving plasma filament movement in a discharge tube in the 1890s.

He describes his observation in Experiments with Alternate Currents of High Potential and High Frequency, published in The June 10, 1892 issue of The Electrical Engineer.
